Roof Coating Installations in Scottsdale, AZ
Most importantly roof coating is a must to protect a SPF foam roof. Although foam is a dense, strong material. UV rays will damaged the foam beyond repair. Plus other items like heavy foot traffic, hail, and flying debris in high-wind events can damage your foam roof. Fortunately protective roof coatings are here to protect and seal roofing foam from the environment and minimize said damage.
When roofing foam is installed to the specified thickness and allowed to cure. An elastomeric coating is then applied over the foam surface (sometimes gravel or greenery is added in conjunction with a coating). The addition of the coating creates a weather-resistant roofing system that can easily be walked on for maintenance purposes.
SPF Foam Coatings
Protective roof coating sprayed over SPF
Elastomeric roof coatings are almost always white or light-colored. The most common materials being acrylic, silicone, urethane, butyl rubber, and polyurea. Physical properties plus application equipment and installation procedures effect the pricing from material to material.
The coatings can be single-component or plural-component materials that are spray-applied in two stages: basecoat and topcoat. Sometimes, the spray application process involves priming the foam surface or embedding (aka broadcasting) granules into the topcoat.
Eventually, every spray foam roofing system requires maintenance. Provided there isn’t any significant physical damage. With just normal wear-and-tear, maintenance usually involves cleaning, priming, and recoating the roof surface. It’s really that easy maintaining an SPF in such a fashion every 5 years or so will keep it performing well for decades.
Cool Roof Coating Over Spray Foam
As with most roofing systems, seasonal changes in temperature will cause SPF roofs to expand and contract throughout the year. So, it’s critical that the protective coating installed over an SPF roof is elastic enough to move with the foam.
If the coating is too brittle, it will crack or delaminate, thereby negating any protective qualities it might otherwise have provided. Look for the term “elongation” when consulting a material’s physical properties. Materials suppliers can provide assistance for choosing the proper coating material for a given roofing system and climate.
Built-Up Coating
BUILT UP ROOF COATING SYSTEMS
The two broad categories of asphalt roofing systems for commercial, industrial and institutional buildings are Built-Up Roofing (BUR) and Modified Bitumen Systems (MBS).
Asphaltic roofing products have long been used as protective waterproof coatings on many different types of roofs. Built-Up Roof (BUR) and Modified Bitumen (Mod Bit) Membranes are available in smooth surface and granulated mineral surfaces, are typical asphalt roof membranes.
As these roofs age, weathering can shorten the life expectancy of the roof system. Loss of flexibility, shrinkage, cracking, splitting of seams/laps, blisters and drying out of the roof membrane could result in water infiltration. Premature aging from excessive heat, and expansion and contraction add to further problems.
Triangle Roofing Company has a solution for these asphalt roof systems. We can design a system for your needs and budget. This process can be done several times without the need of a costly tear-off.
Triangle Roofing Company – Coating Only System
These systems provide a fully adhered, reflective, liquid coating to protect the roof membrane from further UV degradation. Depending on the slope of the roof, it must be determined whether a water-based or solvent-based coating system should be applied.
Our systems start by pressure washing the surface to provide a clean, dry and sound substrate. We offer Primers to enhance and encapsulate the surface. Primer/Sealer is used on asphalt and previously painted/chalking surfaces.
Once cleaned and primed, the roof is ready for the appropriate roof coating.
Triangle Roofing Company – Partially Reinforced System
These systems are fully adhered, seamless membranes with superior weatherability. The polyester reinforcement fabric is used at critical areas, such as pipes, curbs, perimeter, and seams. These monolithic, sustainable roofing systems will yield a final minimum membrane thickness of 20 mils throughout the field of the roof and 45 mils at the reinforced area.
Our systems start by pressure washing the surface to provide a clean, dry and sound substrate. Apply Primer/Sealers to enhance and encapsulate the surface.
The next step is to reinforce the seams and penetrations of the roof. The Polyester Fabric are used around penetrations, seams, laps and other critical areas where movement or splits occur.
Once cleaned, primed, and reinforcement have been applied, the roof is ready for the appropriate roof coating. The Acrylic Finish Coat are used over most roof systems.
Rolled Roofing – Fully Reinforced System
These systems are fluid-applied, fully reinforced membrane designed for application to a variety roof substrates. The polyester fabric is used at the critical areas and the entire roof. These systems will provide a fully adhered, seamless and reinforced membrane system throughout the roof with superior weatherability. This monolithic, sustainable roofing system will yield a final minimum membrane thickness of 45 mils.
Our systems start by pressure washing the surface to provide a clean, dry and sound substrate. Apply Primer/Sealers to enhance and encapsulate the surface.
The next step is to reinforce the seams and penetrations of the roof. The Acrylic Base Coat and Polyester Fabric are used around penetrations, seams, laps and other critical areas where movement or splits occur.
Once cleaned, primed, and the reinforcement have been applied, the roof is ready for the appropriate roof coating. The Acrylic Base Coat are applied to the roof. While wet, Polyester Fabric is embedded into the coating. It is then saturated with more coating. Once dry, the appropriate Finish Coat is applied. Two coats of the Acrylic Finish Coat are used over the Acrylic Base Coat.
